Olivia Burke is PYP Coordinator at GEMS World Academy (Singapore). She joined the team in 2014 as one of the founding staff members teaching Grade 5.
Previously, she taught at Nanjing International School as a Grade 4 classroom teacher and PYP Language Arts Coordinator. Following that was PYP English Coordinator and Grade 5 Grade Level Leader at the Western Academy of Beijing.
Upon returning to Australia for a brief time, Olivia taught grades 3 and 4 and was the Pre K- Grade 12 Information Technology Coordinator at an independent school in New South Wales. As such, was leader of Education Innovation projects and a member of the School Executive Administration Team responsible for leading a team of teachers across Elementary and Senior school sections with integration of technology and design and delivery of ICT integration workshops.
She holds a Bachelor of Education in Primary Education and has a particular interests in technology in education, inquiry-based learning, global education, and special and gifted education. This is her 17th year teaching in Elementary schools.
In September 2015, Olivia will become a member of the International Baccalaureate Educator Network (IBEN). Her support of the IB in Asia-pacific will include leading teacher training as a workshop leader and being a visit team member for the IB PYP school accreditation.
Olivia is in Singapore with her husband Brendan who is teaching Science and Mathematics. Her two daughters, Ashling and Keira both attend GWA in Grade 5 and Grade 2 respectively.
