Throughout high school and university, I was always committed to competitive swimming so it felt like a natural progression to stay involved with swimming as a coach after I graduated. At the same time, I also began planning a career in education.
After graduation, I started coaching full-time immediately and found working with kids an amazing and fulfilling job. Fast-forward 15 years, I was presented the opportunity to teach as well as do some part-time coaching and I knew it was the best of both worlds.
I have 14 years of experience teaching Physical Education – beginning at the American School of Kuwait followed by the International School Bangkok and then a move over to Singapore American School. As a swimming coach, I have nurtured talent in school teams as well as in the USA (National Champion YMCA team), Brazil (National Team Coach for the 1988 South American Championship) and Kuwait (1992 Olympic Team Coach).
At GEMS, I teach Physical Education, coordinate the Aquatics programme and coach the swim team. I believe in incorporating fun into all my classes and if there is anything to expect out of my classes, it would be laughter, energy and excitement.
