Educational Technology Assistant 

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree holder
  • Past experience in educational technology
  • Fluent English language capacity

Job Goal: Educational Technology Assistant will support the teachers in facilitating the best teaching and learning for our students by preparing, organizing and clearing educational materials.

Performance Responsibilities: Roles that the Technical Assistant helps to fulfil in GEMS World Academy (Singapore) includes but are not limited to:

Communication:

  • Continues the school culture of kindness and student centeredness
  • Develops a warm and nurturing relationship with students in your class. Always speak positively about a child. Talk to and listen to children appropriately
  • Maintains open communication between yourself and the single subject teacher and between other school personnel
  • Works cooperatively with teachers and other assistants, proactively sharing skills and strengths and seeking assistance from others when required
  • Refers all questions about curriculum or individual student progress directly to the subject teacher
  • Is well informed about the daily and weekly schedules and requirements
  • Becomes familiar with specific expectations and subject needs
  • Is informed about all expectations and requirements of all teacher assistants by reading staff handbooks, school newsletters and checking emails on a regular basis

Students:

  • Instructs as directed, students in large or small groups, as needed as part of the established educational program
  • Supports individual children on a one-on-one basis as relevant and appropriate
  • Monitors and supervises students as relevant and appropriate
  • Interacts with children in a positive and supportive manner
  • Supports with during and after-school activities as required

General:

  • Attends weekly SY staff meetings when applicable
  • Attends whole school staff meetings, school events, and special events as required
  • Assigned to SY division for meetings and PD

Administrative:

  • Responsible for keeping a weekly schedule shared with teachers and updated weekly
  • Support classroom routines set by the Head of Ed Tech and SY Arts Subject Leader
  • Photocopying and collating of documents and raising of Procurement orders

Professional Development:

  • Participates in staff development programs
  • Assists classroom teachers on a scheduled basis
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School or department leader
  • Maintains appropriate dress, demeanour, good hygiene and positive work ethics as defined by school standards
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Flexibility in participating in external independent productions (case to case basis) whilst maintaining responsibilities

Supply/cover teacher vacancies 

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is seeking supply/cover teachers to help during staff absences throughout the academic year. Preference will be given to applicants with teaching qualifications in IB MYP and DP, however, this is not a requirement.

Start date: ongoing from 14 August 2018
Application close date: until filled

Interviews: ongoing (on campus)

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized university or college (required)
  • Teacher certification (required)
  • Able to cover at short notice (required)
  • Willing to cover within grade range of 6-12 (11 years old to 18 years old)
  • Willing to cover a range of subjects (following provided lesson plans) (preferred)

Database and Information Systems Administrator

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is looking for a reliable Database and Information Systems Administrator to join us. An ideal candidate will be one who has a prior experience in a school setting. He or she should understand the importance of database integrity in terms of both efficiency and security.

Reports to: Assistant ICT Manager

Qualifications:

  • Basic English language capacity
  • Completion of Degree or Diploma in the respective field  
  • Good personal etiquette and positive customer service attitude
  • Polite and pleasant demeanour
  • Three years of job-related experience
  • Working knowledge and experience of student information systems, learning management systems and enrolment systems used in international schools

Job goal: Ensure correct system and data functions that transmit to student enrollment and attendance data into the school’s SIS/LMS and enrolment system, to reconcile the data between systems, to make the necessary corrections, and ensure accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in setup, maintenance, and support of the school’s student information system, learning management system, enrolment system and all associated modules
  • Provides documentation, troubleshooting/problem resolution, training, and support services for students, parents and staff in all faculty divisions and administrative departments
  • Assists in the collection, validation, submission, verification and reconciliation of student information data
  • Advise and train the staff in generating and interpreting various reports derivable from available systems
  • Audits internal student entry/withdrawal information.
  • Coordinates with various stakeholders to ensure compliance of student data
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

In particular, the candidate must have intermediate Excel skills to do on-the-fly data comparison and the ability to perform SQL queries for report generation.

Candidates should also have at least 1 or more experience with the following system and software:

  • Enrolment System - PowerSchool Enrolment, OpenApply or Salesforce.com
  • Student Information System - PowerSchool SIS, Synergetics, Managebac, iSAMS, Alma or Veracross.
  • Learning Management System - PowerSchool (Haiku), Schoolbox or Managebac.
  • Knowledge of appropriate business machines and telephones

Secretary

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is looking for a competent Secretary to the Leadership team.

Job Purpose: To provide administrative support in a variety of functions to the Leadership team that is focused on increasing the efficiency of the office. The candidate should be able to review, prioritize, direct and delegate a wide variety of complex and confidential requests.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Leadership team agenda and assist in planning appointments, board meetings, conferences etc
  • Has a broad knowledge and understanding of the company’s operations and business objectives
  • Attend meetings and keep minutes
  • Handle and prioritize all outgoing or incoming correspondence
  • Make travel arrangements
  • Arranges meeting calendar
  • Organizes own workload and priorities on a day-to-day basis using own initiative and knowledge of work
  • Conduct research and prepare presentations or reports as assigned
